There are many reasons why people would choose to turn down certain jobs. It could be due to the low salary, the long working hours, or just the nature of the job itself. A job as a cleaner or a garbageman is unfortunately one of those jobs that people look down on. What many don’t realise is just how important they are in keeping our environment clean and safe.
Thankfully, there are those who recognise the hard work of a cleaner and garbage collector and acknowledge their efforts. In celebration of the Lunar New Year, some residents wanted to show their appreciation to a man who has diligently been keeping their neighbourhood clean.

A cleaner who goes by Muhamad Izzat posted a video on his TikTok to show all the wonderful gifts he had received from the residents in a neighbourhood area. The gifts are tokens of appreciation to thank the father-of-three for cleaning up the residential area for the Lunar New Year celebration. In the video above, we can see that the man received countless oranges, juice boxes, and Ang Pao packets!
The cleaner posted a follow-up video of him counting the money he received from those Ang Paos after he was done working for the day. When asked by a netizen just how much money he received, the garbage collector revealed that he received a total of RM809 from the neighbourhood people.
Netizens responded to the wholesome video commenting that the man is truly blessed to have been recognised by the residents for his honest work. Others jokingly asked if they could have some of the oranges and drinks he received from the kind residents.
It’s not every day to see someone receiving this much appreciation from the people around them for doing their job. The video should definitely inspire us to pay more attention to the cleaners in our neighbourhood or establishments and show them the appreciation they deserve.
