Whether you’re staying in a luxury or budget hotel, you’re typically entitled to enjoy the full range of services and facilities offered. However, it’s well known that hotel prices can often be on the higher side.

So, it’s no surprise that both the public and those in the hospitality industry were astonished when a foreign guest reportedly ordered room service that cost him less than RM8. What did he order, and which hotel was offering such a bargain? Let’s find out:

Earlier this week, British TikToker @/bradleyshow posted a video of his reaction to ordering room service at an expensive hotel, which he later revealed to be the D’Wharf Hotel in Port Dickson. The content creator was surprised to learn that the food he ordered was not as expensive as he expected. “I ordered two portions, but it was only RM7 per plate! I thought it was going to be like a tiny dish,” he said before reiterating that he did not expect an expensive hotel to be this generous.

The tourist then took a bite of the food, commenting on how crispy and large it was. The video has since garnered over 140,000 views, with netizens, mostly Malaysians, just as surprised as the guest. Many asked for more details about the hotel, while others who claimed to have previously worked in the hospitality industry were also shocked by the price of the room service. Some speculated that the hotel might be a budget establishment, suggesting the TikToker could be exaggerating.

In a follow-up video, Bradley responded to sceptical netizens by confirming the price of the RM7 meal. He apologised for the earlier inaccuracy, clarifying that the dish actually cost RM7.90, and showed the price on the menu as proof. As for those who assumed the British tourist was staying at a budget hotel, a quick search revealed that the D’Wharf Hotel & Serviced Residence is rated as a 4-star establishment, with room prices ranging from RM138 to RM200 per night, depending on the booking platform.
