The Hong Kong entertainment industry continues to mourn the late actor Benz Hui (许绍雄), who passed away on 28th October 2025 (Tuesday) after succumbing to cancer. His colleagues have also shared tributes to the late star, including actress Charmaine Sheh (佘诗曼).
The actress, who has worked with Benz on many projects, was interviewed by Chinese media outlets shortly after the actor’s passing. Charmaine was in Macau when Benz was hospitalised, but returned to Hong Kong to visit him before heading to Beijing to resume work. Given their close relationship, it’s clear that Charmaine was deeply affected by Benz’s death. During the interview, the star was holding back tears as she reminisced about her time with him.
Charmaine spoke fondly about Benz, saying, “He’s someone I respect very much. I’ve known him for a long time, and he’s been like a dad to me several times. He’s always serious about filming, and every character he portrays is deeply moving.” She also mentioned that the actor was always optimistic on set, revealing that he often joked around to lighten the atmosphere.
The actress also mentioned Benz’s devotion to his family, saying that he worked hard throughout his life to provide his family with a better life. While Charmaine is devastated over his death, she tries to stay positive, saying, “Although he is gone now, we should inherit his positive and optimistic character. Although it is very sad, we must also move forward positively. Because I know he always encouraged us to live happily, since he was happy every day.”
Charmaine ended the interview with a final message to the late star, saying, “Dad, although I miss you very much, I won’t cry anymore. I will miss you, and I will always be happy, and I will take care of your family.” News outlets previously reported that the actress had long known of Benz’s health issues, highlighting their close bond. However, she never publicly disclosed them out of respect for the late actor.
