Fights randomly breaking out in public places isn’t something new. Be it a quarrel between couples at a mall or between bike gangs at a restaurant, we’ve seen it all. However, it sure is something new when a commotion is sparked due to criticisms towards someone’s hometown.

In a recent video that went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter) with 82.5 million views (at the time of writing), a woman can be seen assaulting a man at a Haidilao restaurant. The incident is believed to have taken place at the said restaurant in Changsha, Hunan Province, China.

As seen in the video, the woman, identified as transgender internet celebrity Jiang Yan, was having a peaceful dinner with her friends at the restaurant. Suddenly, they were approached by a drunk stranger who claimed to be a lawyer. The drunk man began throwing objects in their direction while hurling insults at them as well as insulting the people of Hunan.

In the next clip, Jian Yan can be seen violently attacking the man, losing her shoe and some hair in the brawl. She even drags him to the ground as her friends try to intervene and stop the fight.

Later on, Jian Yan took to Weibo to explain the whole incident that led to the now-viral fight. She said the unknown guy from the next table approached them and started insulting them and the people from her hometown, Hunan. She also explained that she ignored the man at first, but when her friends started arguing with him, she couldn’t seem to hold back anymore.

She also recounted that the man was heavily drunk during the incident. Jiang Yan noted that the man even hit her with his mobile phone before she started fighting back in self-defense. The video had evoked massive reactions from netizens, ranging from amused comments to those supporting her actions.

There were some helpful netizens who gave a summary of what was happening in the video, and some even commented that the woman should’ve hit him harder. A majority of netizens applauded her for being courageous and willing to stand up for herself and her city. Others even commented that her fighting style resembled the legendary Chinese hero, Wu Song’s, who famously battled a tiger, and said that the man got what he deserved.
