It has been a long time since BTS’s Suga (슈가) hosted a livestream for fans. After completing his military service earlier this year, the idol has been busy preparing for the group’s comeback, as well as possible solo projects.
With few updates in recent months, fans have been curious about what the rapper has been up to, both personally and professionally. ARMYs got some of their questions answered when he went live on WeVerse over the weekend. Here’s what happened:
Yesterday (Sunday, 28th December), BTS member Suga, real name Min Yoongi, hosted a livestream on WeVerse for the first time in two years. The idol appeared in casual attire, wearing a simple black T-shirt and glasses. At one point during the broadcast, fans could hear a cat meowing in the background. Suga then called the feline over to properly introduce it to viewers.
The “Butter” artist held a black cat in his arms and revealed that its name is Tang, short for Soeltang, which is the Korean word for “Sugar.” He described his furry friend as gentle and affectionate, sharing that he adopted the cat three years ago from a friend. Suga explained that he had planned to adopt a cat for a long time. Originally, the 32-year-old had wanted to adopt two cats so he could name them Soel and Tang, but things didn’t go as planned. Nevertheless, he kept the adorable name.
Suga also revealed that fellow member Jimin is very fond of Tang, although his cat allergy makes it difficult for him to play with the feline for long periods. Both the livestream and the moments with his cat quickly went viral among ARMYs, many of whom expressed their excitement online. One clip showed fans reacting to the WeVerse notification that Suga was live, screaming and trembling in a cinema after watching Jin’s documentary film.
Others were happy to finally get the confirmation that the rapper adopted a cat after suspecting he had one for the past 3 years. From their reactions, it’s clear that fans missed Suga dearly and will look forward to his next solo or even group livestream.
