Many K-pop stars sing about love, but some rarely talk about their love lives to avoid attracting too much unwanted attention. However, BTS (방탄소년단) member Jungkook (정국) recently revealed a crush he had when he was younger, sparking comments from ARMYs (BTS fans) online.
The second season of “Are You Sure?! (이게 맞아?!)” starring Jungkook and Jimin (지민) recently premiered on Disney+, following the two BTS members’ adventures as they travel together across multiple countries. In a recent episode, Jungkook opens up about the first time he had a crush on someone outside of Korea.
According to the idol, the girl he liked was in the same dance class as him when he visited America. Before his debut, Jungkook went to Los Angeles to attend a month-long dance training camp. The idol said he was in 8th grade at the time, putting him at 13-14 years old when he met this mystery girl.
Jungkook said the girl he liked was also taking dance lessons and was as young as he was. He added that he found her really pretty, but never spoke to her. BTS’ choreographer Son Sungdeuk (손성득), who accompanied Jungkook on the trip, even persuaded the idol to approach the girl. However, the then-young trainee said he couldn’t because he couldn’t speak English.
After hearing Jungkook’s unrequited love story, Jimin couldn’t help but coo, saying, “That’s actually a cute story.” Fans have also reacted to the sharing, quipping about how shy Jungkook was when he was younger. Some also noted how comfortable he was talking about his crushes, saying it highlights his growing confidence.
