Occasionally, we’d see cyclists riding their bikes on the road. However, not many enjoy the sights of these cyclists as some find them irritating for getting in the way. In contrast, others have shown concern about their safety, especially after a tragic accident that shook the nation a few years back.
This group of cyclists were spotted waiting at the traffic light and when it was time to move, one of them got angry at a driver for honking at them so he could pass through. Things then escalated pretty quickly. Watch:

Yesterday (Sunday, 10th September), the SGRV (Singapore Road Vigilante) ADMIN posted a video that showed the incident which occurred along Sungei Tengah Road near Choa Chu Kang in Singapore. As seen in the dashcam recording above, a driver honked at a group of cyclists at a traffic light to make way so he could pass through when one of them suddenly started hitting the car’s bonnet, causing a dent.
The man in the orange cycling suit’s action clearly upset the driver and the two had a shouting fest with the former allegedly accusing the latter of trying to hit him. The cyclist could also be heard hurling f-bombs at the driver. Moments later, the driver insisted that he caught the cyclist in the act on his dashcam and even threatened to file a police report against him.
The cyclist, who probably thought the driver was bluffing, urged him to call the authorities. The post drew a lot of reactions from netizens with many believing that the cyclist was in the wrong as he had no reason to damage someone’s car. Others, however, thought that it was unnecessary for the driver to honk at the cyclists more than once.
According to the Facebook caption, the cyclist was not arrested for damaging one’s property. This incident also reminded a few of several occasions where cyclists would appear on the highway. While we may not know the road rules in the neighbouring country, it is actually not illegal to ride a bicycle on the highway in Malaysia as long as the cyclists follow the traffic rules under Rule 35 (2) and Rule 35 (3) of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
