The Singaporean entertainment industry is mourning over the death of veteran actor Moses Lim (林益民). The star passed away on 11th February 2025 (Tuesday) at age 75.
Moses’ official Facebook page shared the devastating announcement on 12th February 2025 (Wednesday). The tribute post writes, “Today, Singapore celebrates the extraordinary life of one of our most beloved entertainment icons. Moses Lim, who brought endless laughter and joy to generations of Singaporeans, has taken his final bow, leaving behind a legacy that sparkles as brightly as his unforgettable smile.”

The post continued to share about the late star’s many achievements, both on and off camera. Moses is best known for playing Tan Ah Teck in the legendary Mediacorp sitcom, “Under One Roof”. The role earned him the “Best Male Actor in a Comedy” award at the 1996 Asian Television Awards. He’s also a renowned figure in Singapore’s food scene, having made a name for himself as a food critic, F&B consultant and food guide.
The post didn’t specify the cause of death, but it’s believed he died of natural causes. However, he did undergo heart surgery in 2018, and in 2023; he revealed that his pulse was slower than normal. Doctors advised him to install a pacemaker for his health. Moses never installed the device, telling the press that he didn’t want to go through surgery at his advanced age, adding that his condition didn’t affect his everyday life.
Fans and celebrities have since mourned the late actor, sharing touching tributes on social media and sending condolences to Moses’ loved ones. Singaporean director Jack Neo shared his thoughts about the star’s passing with a Singaporean news outlet. A longtime friend and collaborator of Moses’, Jack is deeply saddened by the news, saying, “I feel regretful that he left us too early”.


Moses last publicly posted on social media on 10th February 2025 (Monday), when he shared photos of him dining at a Chinese restaurant in Singapore. The star leaves behind his wife, Monica, two daughters, and four granddaughters. We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Moses, and may the actor rest in peace.
