Thor and Hulk may have sat out from last year’s critically-acclaimed “Captain America: Civil War”, but rest assured that these 2 will be continuing the hero-fighting-hero trend on the big screen later this year.
Not only did the franchise drop a new behind-the-scenes image featuring director Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth on set, but a brand new synopsis for “Thor: Ragnarok” was unveiled, confirming that the God of Thunder and Hulk will be pitted against one another in the gladiator ring.
The synopsis reads:
“In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok — the destruction of his home world and the end of Asgardian civilisation — at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger — the Incredible Hulk!”
Seeing as how Marvel showed off the Hulk gladiator armour used in the movie during last year’s Comic Con, it’s no secret that “Thor: Ragnarok” is incorporating elements of the Planet Hulk comics storyline. We’ve also seen Instagram shots of Mark Ruffalo with his cast members on set, though it was reported that his Hulk character will have less screen time than expected.
We last saw Thor on the big screen during the post credits scene in “Doctor Strange” where he was requesting the Sorcerer Supreme’s assistance to help search for his missing father, Odin. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is expected to play a key role in “Thor: Ragnarok”, appearing in what has been said to be an extended cameo.
“Thor: Ragnarok” will smash its way into theatres on 3rd November 2017.
