This Is SPA(RTA)! Live EXTRA With IKEA’s New Spa-Inspired Collection!

IKEA’s new BASTUA collection is circling to land, folks! Created in collaboration with the Finnish design house Marimekko, the collection will be available in Malaysia starting March 2nd. The limited-edition line was inspired by the Nordic sauna, promoting the joys of self-care activities.

The collection consists of furniture, glassware, and textiles in colourful prints and patterns inspired by Nordic nature and wellbeing. The phrase “BASTUA” refers to a sauna in Småland, the region in southern Sweden where IKEA was founded. Nordic sauna culture was the starting point for the collaboration that brings together IKEA’s home furnishing expertise with Marimekko’s art of printmaking.

The collection’s bold and beautiful patterns are inspired by nature and the Finnish landscape. Notably, this is the first time Marimekko has created a set of prints specifically for a collaboration. One of the focal prints features large, decorative rhubarb leaves that commonly grow next to sauna huts in Finland, a motif that appears on many of the collection’s items, including the iconic FRAKTA bag.

“Capturing the essence of Marimekko’s Finnish roots and its connection to the historical origins of sauna culture was an important part of the design process and the creation of the BASTUA prints. Marimekko is dedicated to bringing joy into people’s everyday lives through its bold prints and designs, and we are thrilled to see this come true in collaboration with IKEA,” Rebekka Bay, Creative Director at Marimekko, said.

The collection also includes traditional sauna items such as robes, towels, and sauna buckets, as well as products to accompany one’s self-care rituals at home, including a floor cushion to help you feel grounded or lighting a candle to fill your space with the scent of elder flower.

The range, which also includes items inspired by Nordic furniture design, is distinguished by clear lines and simple constructions, making is ideal for adding that extra Nordic charm to your home. Sip on a glass of water and imagine water ripples in a crystal-clear lake. The traditional side table is the ideal complement to the trays and glassware, as well as for relaxing with a snack after a long day at work. The versatile bench is ideal for moments of relaxation and would look great in any space.

The BASTUA collection will be available at IKEA Damansara, IKEA Cheras and IKEA Batu Kawan from 2nd March, and online on IKEA.my starting 6th March. The collection will soon be made available at IKEA Tebrau.
