Known for his work on the classic adaptation of “Anna Karenina” and romantic drama war film “Atonement”, Joe Wright is in talks to helm the adaptation of “The Lifeboat”. Starring Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway, the film is based on a Charlotte Rogan’s 2012 book of the same title.
William Broyles Jr. is to pen the script of the movie according to the book which focuses on the story about a young newlywed-turned-widow, Grace Winter, who’s standing trial in 1914 for murder and the story recounts how with the help of her new husband she survived the sinking of the Empress, a transatlantic ocean liner. She finds herself on a lifeboat, only to discover there are too many people on board, leading to a moral crisis as to who stays and who has to go.
Working Title’s Tim Beva, Eric Fellner and Liza Chasin as well as Film 360’s Suzan Bymel and Ben Forkner together with Anne Hathaway are developing “The Lifeboat” while William Broyles Jr. will serve as an executive producer.
No news in regards to the release date and trailer for “The Lifeboat” has been released, but with Wright’s previous outstanding achievements, we believe that “The Lifeboat” will be an impressive movie.
In other related news, Wright recently directed an upcoming Warner Bros’ movie “Pan”. Starring Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara and Cara Delevigne, the film is scheduled for a release on October 9th.
