To star in hit shows such as “The Walking Dead”, “Chicago Med”, and “9-1-1” is a milestone few can achieve. It’s also a testament to one’s talent, as these shows are known for their emotionally complex characters. Sadly, Kelley Mack, a former cast member of the aforementioned series, has passed away following a long battle with cancer. She was 33 years old.
According to a statement from her family on CaringBridge, the actress had been suffering from glioma of the central nervous system, a type of brain tumour. Yesterday (Tuesday, 5th August), Kelley’s sister, Kathryn Klebenow, shared the heartbreaking news with fans via the star’s official Instagram account.

“It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go. Kelley passed peacefully on Saturday evening with her loving mother Kristen and steadfast aunt Karen present. Kelley has already come to many of her loved ones in the form of various butterflies 🦋 ❤️ She will be missed by so many to depths that words cannot express,” the caption reads.
A celebration of life will be held in Ohio on 16th August to honour the late performer. Shortly after the heartbreaking announcement, many of her former “The Walking Dead” co-stars paid tribute in the comments section. Alanna Masterson and Gustavo Gomez recalled their time with Kelley during season 9 of the hit series. Even the show’s director, Michael E. Satrazemis, commented on how fortunate he felt to have worked with such a talented and radiant star.

Anthony Michael Lopez, who plays Oscar on “The Walking Dead”, also mourned for the star in the comments. We, too, would like to extend our deepest condolences to the actress’ loved ones. May they have the strength to go through this challenging time.
