Syed Saddiq Criticises PDRM For Fining Teenager Over Incorrect Use Of Face Mask

A recent snippet of news reporting about a Malaysian teenager being fined for not wearing his face mask correctly went viral online. In the clip shared by Twitter user @abamihsan, the poor fellow was seen breaking down in tears!

Disheartened by this, many netizens slammed the authorities and questioned the government’s compulsory face mask order by raising the issue of several politicians breaking the rule while in public. Even Syed Saddiq echoed the same sentiment.

MashaAllah.

Saya faham yang PDRM hanya menjalankan tugas menjaga undang2

But this is not fair!

Anak muda yang sekadar buka mask sekejap disaman, tapi VVIP yang bergambar di tempat sesak langsung tak dikenakan tindakan.

Kita sesama manusia. Perlu ada belas ihsan. Compassion. https://t.co/PDvQdeKO1u

The Muar MP wrote on his Twitter, “I understand that the PDRM is only carrying out their duty of keeping the law. But this is not fair! A young man who just opened his mask for a while was summoned. But VVIPs who were pictured in crowded places don’t have to face any consequences.”

“We are fellow human beings. There needs to be compassion,” Syed Saddiq further added in his tweet. The tweet has gained over 40,000 retweets as at time of writing, with many social media users agreeing with the former Youth and Sports minister’s point of view.

Check out what some of the enraged members of the Twitterverse had to say about this:

Polis pon takkan la sampai berkeras sangat nak bagi saman. Kesalahan budak ni takdak la berat sangat. Dia pakai tapi letak kat dagu kejap je kot. Takkan la tak ada timbang rasa langsung. 😔

kenapa terlalu cepat nak saman ye? @PDRMsia tak da consideration langsung ke? what about vvip yg some of them tak jaga sop pun. pakai mask bawah dagu. this is not fair. being strict is good but if you understand and nasihatkan dulu would be better. 1k is material to some people. https://t.co/i3GXIlccZB
