#Syabas: Water Disruption To Take Place In KL & PJ On 29th March

Due to the baking hot weather this season, there will be water disruptions taking place across the Klang Valley at the end of this month.

In an effort to upgrade the water distribution system in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) will be carrying out a few pipe repairs and replacement work from 6am on 29th March until 2am on 30th March.

As a result, some parts of Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya will experience temporary water interruptions during the 20-hour replacement works. Syabas said the affected locations may take up 12 to 72 hours for the water supply to return to normal, depending on how far your location is situated from the supply source.

Water supply in certain parts of Kuala Lumpur should be restored and reconnected in 12 hours, whereas recovery in Petaling Jaya will take up between 24 hours to 72 hours, so residents are advised to use water sparingly and store enough for use when the water disruption takes place.

Check out the images below to see if your location is affected:

We are no strangers to water disruptions. Sometimes we get this sort of unexpected surprise without any prior notice, so this upcoming water disruption shouldn’t come as something new. Do make early preparations and store water throughout this week. If your gym or local sports centre isn’t affected, take advantage of it and sneak some showers there.

In case you’re wondering how much water you should store, the New Straits Times suggests that an average Malaysian family of 4 requires about 20 cubic metres of water monthly (20,000 litres). That’s approximately 645 litres for 1 family in a day. To give you a better perspective, 3 to 5 pails for water per person, per day should be enough.
