A year after its launch, Sushiro Malaysia is finally expanding with its second branch at 1 Utama Shopping Centre. Unfortunately, just days before the opening, the Sushiro KLCC branch has announced a temporary closure.
Earlier today (Wednesday, 1st July 2026), Sushiro Malaysia shared an announcement on its social media page, announcing the temporary closure of its Suria KLCC branch. According to the statement, the closure follows an order from the Malaysian health authorities.

Sushiro Malaysia continues its statement, saying, “We are currently working closely with the Malaysian health authorities to meet the required conditions and take the necessary steps toward resuming operations.” The sushi chain also apologised for the inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
While the company noted that the authorities ordered the temporary closure, it didn’t clarify the issue that prompted the order. However, customers noted that the closure may stem from unsatisfactory hygiene standards. Some even lamented that the store’s cleanliness has gone downhill in recent months.
In case you’re wondering, Sushiro Malaysia opened its doors in February 2025, marking the Japanese kaiten sushi chain’s debut in the country. The company also recently announced plans to expand and is set to open two more branches in the Klang Valley area later this year. The 1 Utama branch will open on 10th July 2026 (Friday).

Sushiro KLCC’s temporary closure comes after IKEA Cheras announced the temporary closure of its Swedish Restaurant in mid-June. Customers noted that the restaurant has had issues with its cleanliness in the past few months. The health authorities also ordered several eateries at MyTOWN Shopping Centre to temporarily close, also over hygiene concerns.
According to social media, Sushiro KLCC will remain closed for two weeks, until 14th July 2026 (Tuesday). We hope everything goes well for Sushiro Malaysia and that the Suria KLCC outlet will reopen soon.
