Streaming News: Neil Gaiman’s Works Axed/Paused Over Assault Claims; “Alien: Earth” Teaser Unleashed

Movies and TV/streaming series are always such a fickle thing – a widely-beloved show might not get renewed for another season, while another programme just can’t seem to die and is even being adapted into other forms of media.

Regardless – if you’re looking for closure over a prematurely-cancelled show, or want the latest juicy deets on your favourite programme, then you’ve come to the right place!

“The Sandman” Season 2 The ONLY Gaiman Project Not Axed After Harassment Allegations

It’s hard to witness a legend fall, but it is even harder to admit that they may have deserved it. The legendary writer Neil Gaiman, the fictionist who has given us memorable stories such as “Coraline,” “Sandman,” “Good Omens,” and many more, is in hot water as of late due to multiple allegations of sexual assault and harassment.

For those who are unaware, back in July of 2024, an exclusive piece by Tortoise Media went viral online where the novelist was accused of sexual assault by two women. A six-part podcast from the media called “Master” went into further details about the allegations of five women. Since then, major media outlets have investigated and corroborated each other’s sources and investigations, creating quite a significant case against the writer, who has maintained his innocence.

Ever since the news blew up, many more women have stepped forward and shared their experiences. Many companies have already cut ties with Gaiman, regardless of how long or deep their relationship was, the most significant of which was Dark Horse Comics. In a post on X, the American graphic novel publishing company stated that “Dark Horse takes seriously the allegations against Neil Gaiman, and we are no longer publishing his works.”

“Cross” Review: Prime's Murder Series Is A Thrilling Ride You Won't Want To Get Off Of
Source: IMDb

The company decided that it would no longer release the upcoming issues of Gaiman’s “Anansi Boys.” Some companies that the British Writer has worked with, such as HarperCollins and W.W. Norton, stated that they have no plans to release any of his books in the future. Even Disney halted its planned adaptation of Gaiman’s “The Graveyard Book.”

Netflix is, so far, the only exception. At the time of reporting, Netflix is still due to release season 2 of “The Sandman” later in 2025. It has not been revealed or made clear how much Gaiman was involved in the creation of the series, but he is not involved with any of the promotions. Naturally, it is hard to stop a series from releasing, especially since all that’s left is a bit of spit polish before the release. But these allegations have significantly dampened, if not ruined, any prospects for a third season. It remains to be seen whether or not the streaming giant still wishes to pursue the series or not. It is quite ironic and saddening to know that Dream was able to stretch his wings, only for him to be trapped once again, this time due to his creator’s alleged crimes.

“Alien: Earth” Crash-Lands On Hulu Later This Year

“Alien” fans have definitely been eating well these past few months. Following the release of “Alien: Romulus,” as well as its VHS rerelease, the franchise will be receiving another entry in the form of “Alien: Earth,” an upcoming series on Hulu that will explore the iconic xenomorph as it starts stalking its prey on the human home planet (you guessed it, Earth).

After months of being blasted with crumbs of information, we’ve finally gotten our first glimpse of the upcoming series. In this teaser, we are immediately thrust into the action as we take on the point of view of a very angry alien, running through a spaceship. Of course, with the xenomorph hurtling itself through door after door, it ends up crashing into the ship’s porthole, which then zooms out to reveal the ship is on a collision course with the big blue marble, Earth.

Curiously enough, the creator of the series, Noah Hawley, confirmed that the series is actually a prequel, inserting itself two years before the events of the original 1979 film. The official synopsis on the video reads, “When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in the sci-fi horror series ‘Alien: Earth.’ ”

With that in mind, it’s not off-base to say that “Alien: Earth” might be a rehash of the original with a few key twists to make it more distinctive, with Syndey Chandler potentially mimicking Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley. She won’t be alone, as Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El have also been confirmed to co-star in the series.

The series will arrive on Hulu later this year, with many more details to follow in the coming months.
