If you’ve ever been to South Korea, chances are you’ve spotted a Lotteria (롯데리아) on just about every corner. It’s the kind of place locals and tourists alike flock to when cravings hit. It’s a burger joint that feels familiar, but with a distinctly Korean twist.
Now, it looks like Malaysians won’t have to hop on a plane to get their fix. A photo posted on Twitter showed a Lotteria teaser spotted at The Curve with the date “2025.12,” and it immediately sparked excitement among local foodies.

Best known for their array of Korean-style burgers, Lotteria is making its way here in a big way. By the close of 2025, their first-ever Malaysian outlet is set to open, with 30 outlets planned over the next five years. This marks the brand’s official entry into the Malaysian fast food scene.
Lotteria was founded by Korean entrepreneur Shin Kyuk-Ho in Tokyo, Japan, back in 1972. He was also the founder and first chairman of the Lotte Group, one of South Korea’s biggest conglomerates. The brand soon expanded into Seoul in 1979, where it became recognised as the country’s very first fast food restaurant.

Fast forward to today, and Lotteria is everywhere in South Korea with over 1,000 outlets. It’s also built a strong presence in Asia with more than 300 branches in Vietnam, Japan, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Cambodia. Soon, Malaysia will be added to that list.
The upcoming Malaysian launch is a collaboration between Korea’s Lotte GRS and Malaysia’s Serai Group. According to reports from the Korea Times, the two companies have committed to rolling out 30 outlets over the next five years.

So, what can Malaysians expect? Lotteria is famous for its eclectic menu that blends global fast food staples with Korean flavours. From its signature Bulgogi Burger and Shrimp Burger to favourites like Jeonju Bibim Rice, the menu offers a variety that sets it apart from typical burger chains. Alongside burgers, customers can perhaps also expect fried chicken, mozzarella sticks, nuggets, spiced fries, and even pasta options like spaghetti.
With the teaser spotted at The Curve, Malaysians can now count down to Lotteria’s long-awaited arrival. While the exact menu for Malaysia has yet to be revealed, fans are already buzzing with anticipation for the first taste of Korea’s beloved fast food right here at home.
