KK Super Mart has been weathering quite the storm since its incident with the socks with the word ‘Allah’ on them. Aside from many taking a stand against them, surprise inspections from authorities have also resulted in some branches being fined and closed.

Unfortunately, as it turns out, netizens have been targeting anything with KK in the name, and a few stray bullets have hit innocent marts in Kedah and Langkawi. Needless to say, these marts have since made it clear that they are not affiliated with KK Super Mart.

KK Fresh Mart in Taman Suria Jitra, Kedah, was one of the unlucky victims implicated in the case. Apparently, netizens have been calling for its boycott on Facebook, leading to a decrease in customers at the store. KK Fresh Mart’s owner Nur Hamidah has since made a post on Facebook declaring their innocence.

“We are KK Fresh Mart, not KK Super Mart,” she emphasized in the post. “We are people from Kuala Kedah who opened up Fresh Mart at Jitra. Don’t make accusations without verifying (it), hope our shop’s name will be cleared. Please don’t spread (accusations) without verification.” She later added that the person who started the boycott had already called to apologise.

KK Mini Mart in Sungai Menghulu, Langkawi too had apparently gotten dragged into the mess. According to Chinese media, the owner later uploaded a post to Facebook group, Langkawi Hari Ini (LHI) to clarify the issue. “Although the design of the word ‘KK’ is similar, the business license and logo colour is different (than KK Super Mart’s),” they said. But, to reduce the confusion, the owner claimed they would soon change the design of the sign.

Well, it’s certainly regretful that these two marts have taken the fall for KK Super Mart’s incident. However, we do hope netizens will be more careful with whom they boycott in the future and that business will return to normal for these two marts soon.
