Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato may have gone through some rough patches, but their friendship goes a long way.
Selena was recently featured in ELLE’s October issue where she opened up about keeping her distance from social media, volunteering at the global anti-human-trafficking nonprofit A21, her upcoming album, and her childhood buddy Demi Lovato.
Back in July, Demi was hospitalised after a near-fatal drug overdose at her Hollywood Hills mansion which is now up for sale for $9.49 million. The singer is currently in recovery and hasn’t been on social media for more than a month.
Many friends and celebrities have send put their prayers and wishes to the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer, but some wonders why childhood friend Selena Gomez has been keeping mum on the incident.
Turns out, that the former Disney star is extremely worried about her friend when she heard the news. Paparazzi even photographed her looking very upset and somber in candid shots, the same week when Demi was hospitalised.
“All I’m saying is, I reached out personally. I didn’t do a public thing. I didn’t want to. I…I love her. I’ve known her since I was seven. So…it’s…that’s what I’ll say,” Selena choked up with sadness as she revealed her feelings to ELLE.
Selena is choosing her words carefully as she doesn’t want the media to manipulate or mistranslate it, which is why she’s making her comment brief.
Meanwhile, Selena’s mother Mandy Teefey shared an old photo of Selena and Demi together with a heartfelt message, one day after Demi’s overdose. “This was exactly 10 years ago at S, Sweet 16. Demi Lovato, we love you. The world is a better place because of these infectious smiles. My heart hurts.”

Selena and Demi have been friends since they met on the set of “Barney & Friends” 16 years ago. Often called as Delena by their fans, the two went on to become Disney stars and their friendship deepen from there. Thing gotten a little bit rough when the two besties graduated from Disney and started to enter adulthood.
Meeting new friends and clique, Selena and Demi had become more distant with each other, and this gotten apparent when Selena got into a relationship with Justin Bieber and form a new friendship with Taylor Swift.

However, the Delena pair is said to be closer again after Selena broke up with Bieber. Though they rarely hang out with each other, the friendship is still there.
“They started out together! We had some great times together. They will always will love each other. There’s nothing that will ever come between them,” Demi’s mother Dianna De La Garza told People back in March.
