A couple of months ago, many were surprised by the unexpected friendship between Hong Kong influencer Ayla Sham (沈月) and the Princess of Selangor, HRH Tengku Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. The pair were last seen together at the Singapore Grand Prix, though their friendship likely began earlier in June.
Earlier this week, Her Royal Highness posted on her Instagram that the daughter of retired actress Chingmy Yau (邱淑貞) was in town and that the two had been spending some time together. Not only that, the Selangor royal also gave the internet personality a special tour of her home.
On Thursday (14th November), Tengku Zatashah shared a photo of herself and Ayla Sham at the Selangor Royal Palace, with the caption: “A private visit to the official palace of Selangor, Istana Alam Shah in Klang, Malaysia for Ayla. Thank you for coming ❤️💛.” Before her visit to the palace, the Hong Kong influencer was seen helping Her Royal Highness distribute food to those in need on the streets of Kuala Lumpur.
“My mèimei Ayla flew in all the way from Hong Kong. She always said that she’d like to join me, so thank you for sharing your time with our 100 clients today at Kechara Soup Kitchen,” the Princess wrote in her Instagram post. Tengku Zatashah has always been active in volunteering with Kechara Soup Kitchen Society, a non-religious, non-profit organisation based in Malaysia. The charity provides free food to the homeless, food rations to the poor, and also empowers the unemployed by equipping them with new skills.
The humanitarian aid didn’t stop there. The Selangor royal and Ayla attended the Make-A-Wish Malaysia Wish Ball charity gala last night, where all their wishes were adopted. “You’ve made a young girl, our Wish Child, very happy with your wish adoption. Thank you,” said Her Royal Highness to her friend.
It’s truly heartwarming and inspiring to see Tengku Zatashah and Ayla Sham using their platforms to help the underprivileged. May they continue to work together to improve the lives of those in need.
