After nearly three years of silence, Joji has finally re-emerged online, and fans are losing their minds. The enigmatic singer-songwriter, best known for his melancholic hits and elusive persona, has broken his long hiatus with a series of subtle but telling updates across his social media platforms.
The unexpected move, which happened on 11th October (Saturday), marked the first visible activity from the artist since 2023. The Japanese-Australian artist, whose real name is George Kusunoki Miller, deepened the excitement two days later when he posted two teaser images with the caption “see u soon” on 13th October (Monday). The post marked the end of a 762-day silence since the release of his last album, “Smithereens”, in 2022.

The teaser images show billboards featuring Joji’s new visuals. One projected on a building known as The Reef in Downtown Los Angeles. The second displayed prominently on the Times Square digital billboard in New York City, an iconic landmark that has previously featured Malaysian stars such as Misha Omar and many others. If you happened to spot these mysterious visuals while passing by and wondered what they meant, now you know.
Fans were quick to dissect the teaser, analysing every frame for clues. Some claimed the visuals suggested a darker, more experimental tone, while others believe the post signifies a brand-new musical era. True to his mysterious nature, the artist provided no explanation or context. No captions, no release dates, just an invitation to wonder.

Joji first rose to fame as an internet personality under the comedic alias Filthy Frank before transitioning to music, where he gained critical acclaim for his genre-blending style that fuses R&B, lo-fi, and electronic influences. His emotionally charged tracks like “Slow Dancing in the Dark” and “Glimpse of Us” established him as a leading voice in the alternative pop scene, praised for his raw vulnerability and cinematic soundscapes.
Since completing his world tour in 2023, the singer has remained largely out of the spotlight, reportedly stepping back for health reasons. His sudden return has reignited excitement across the music community, with fans and industry watchers alike eager to see what direction he’ll take next.

As of now, neither the “Glimpse of Us” singer nor his label, Warner Music, has released any official statements regarding new music or projects. Still, whether it’s the start of a new era or just a taste of what’s to come, fans are ready to listen for what’s to come.
For now, all we can do is wait and hope that more good news or surprises are on the way. Are you excited for Joji’s long-awaited comeback?
