It’s finally time to welcome one of the sweetest days of the year – World Chocolate Day! This 7th July, take your time to celebrate all kinds of chocolate, whether your tastes skew towards dark, white, or nutty.

In celebration of this sweet day, Pavilion Bukit Jalil and its wonderful tenants are offering some chocolicious treats that would be the perfect addition to your choco-filled day. Keep reading to find out where you can go to satisfy your chocolate craving – plus some chocolate facts for your chocolate curiosity!

Chocolate Goes Back To 1500 B.C.

SOURCES: PAVILION BUKIT JALIL

Chocolate is the one dessert that has truly withstood the test of time. Over 3,000 years ago in 1500 B.C., the Mayans and the Aztecs considered chocolate as a gift from God. The Aztecs, in particular, preferred to drink their chocolate and gave it to victorious warriors after battles. ROYCE’s chocolate offerings truly taps into pure, cacao flavours to satisfy a curious sweet tooth – think pistachio, caramel, and berries. Could we say, Mayan and Aztec approved? Paris Baguette honours the Aztec tradition of drinking their desserts with their signature sweet iced chocolate.

Of course, we’re happy to recommend Christine’s Bakery to fully indulge in your chocolate fantasies, where the newly-released ‘Choco-Bliss’ bagel resides. With this much sweetness, we think you’d be battle-ready in no time.

Astronauts Can Bring Chocolate Up To Space!

SOURCES: PAVILION BUKIT JALIL

Even in space, astronauts do not miss out on the delights of chocolates, and are allowed to bring chocolates in their “bonus containers”. Unfortunately, their choices have to be space-safe, so most are unable to indulge in the chocolatey goodness of mixed, melted, and even grilled chocolate.

On the ground, we say thanks for our multitude of choices, such as the specialty King Waffle at Asuka Cafe. If you’re feeling a bit more cheeky (and want to be a little bit of a show-off to those NASA astronauts), toss a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar to your chocolate dip when you grab a quick bite at Street Churros. Looking for a place that would truly make an astronaut cry? With choices from chocolate beverages, ice-creams, and fondue, pay a visit to Molten Chocolate Cafe. Can’t get that on the moon, now, can you?

The Largest Chocolate Bar Is Approximately 4,125 Square Feet

SOURCES: PAVILION BUKIT JALIL

Let’s get one thing straight – we’d never encourage you to eat a 4,125ft chocolate bar all by yourself, even though it could be tempting. So, let’s head to the next best thing – the 4,000ft chocolate bar, all broken up into little, decadent pieces.

If you’re looking for a little taste of heaven (but not too much!), stop by Chez Choux to pick up some of their chocolate eclair cream puffs. Or satisfy your taste buds with something a little bit more local, like a slice of Vanilla Mille Crepe’s Choco Pick Me Up crepe cake – though it’s nowhere near able to satisfy how many chocolates we’d actually want to eat, we think that you’d be just as happy. To add on to the theme of something small and satisfying, treat yourself to a packet of crispy chocolate gourmet popcorn from myEureka Snack. Trust us, it’s like 4,000ft of chocolate bars, all in little bite sized shapes!

The Chocolate Chip Cookie Was Invented By Accident!

SOURCES: PAVILION BUKIT JALIL

To replicate the same crunchy, fudgy goodness that was created accidentally by bed and breakfast owner Ruth  Graves Wakefield in 1930, we recommend none other than Famous Amos, which houses a variety of cookie flavours (our favourite is the classic chocolate chip – also favoured by most of Ruth’s customers when they visited her bed and breakfast). Meanwhile, the Belgian chocolate chip cookies from Lavender are to die for, while Zus Coffee’s Dark Chocolate Zus Bites would be a healthier alternative.

The Trend Of Chocolate-Topped Ice Cream Started In The 1920s

SOURCES: PAVILION BUKIT JALIL

Thank you to Harry Burt, the first man that’s ever topped the frozen goodness of ice cream into a warm chocolate mix. From the 1920s, the goodness of an ice cream sundae simply can’t be topped. If you’re looking for the same experience with frozen treats that was started nearly a century ago, make a pitstop at llaollao and enjoy their frozen yoghurt base, coated with rich chocolate syrup and a variety of toppings.

On that same note, you can also enjoy Baskin Robbins’ famous Chocolate Overload ice cream for a mouthful of rich, fudgy goodness, and for a more affordable option, MIXUE’s ice cream menu is extensive enough, with just the right number of chocolate-based choices – like their classic chocolate sundae, or an indulgent cookie sundae.
