RM30 Max Rate: Netizens Compare The Exchange TRX’s Parking Rates With Other Malls

When The Exchange TRX Shopping Mall first opened, many complained about the horrible traffic jam in the surrounding area since everyone was attending the grand opening ceremony. After all, who isn’t curious to check out the brand-new luxury mall?

The congestion was one of the reasons why people were advised to take the TRX MRT to visit the shopping centre instead of driving. Another reason is due to the parking fare. You’d be surprised (or may be not) after learning how much it actually costs to park your car there.

Yesterday (Thursday, 30th November), a netizen posted a photo on Twitter, revaling the parking rate at The Exchange TRX mall and was surprised to learn how much he had to pay after spending a few hours in the mall. “I don’t remember how long I spent walking around the mall but I had to pay RM15! And it wasn’t even the premium parking,” he wrote.

As seen in the photo above, the parking rates for the new mall are as such:

Weekdays:

  • RM 5 – First hour or part thereof
  • RM 4 – Every subsequent hour or part thereof
  • RM10 – Flat rate (after 5pm)
  • RM30 – Maximum rate per day

Weekends and Public Holidays:

  • RM 3 – First hour or part thereof
  • RM 3 – Every subsequent hour or part thereof
  • RM10 – Flat rate (after 5pm)
  • RM30 – Maximum rate per day

The post gained a lot of attention from netizens, who also felt that the parking rates were extremely expensive. Many compared the prices to Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall saying that they’re much cheaper there while others believe the fees are reasonable for an elite shopping centre – just like Suria KLCC. Some suspected that the rates are as such to encourage customers to use the MRT that’s already connected to the building rather than driving.

However, some argued that parking spaces are essentials and it should not be overpriced since people would want to bring their families along with them when they visit The Exchange TRX. If you’re curious to know just how different the parking rates are at other malls, here are screenshots of a few of them:

Do you think that the parking fees at The Exchange TRX are unreasonable or is it completely normal for a luxury mall?
