It’s a normal occurrence for longstanding idols to leave their first companies in search of one that resonates with their creative direction. Most idols who plan to go as solo acts in their next company do well, with fans getting a taste of a different side to them, and this one is not one to miss.
Red Velvet’s Wendy (레드벨벳 웬디/손승완) is preparing for her first solo comeback after departing from SM Entertainment back in April. According to sources, the comeback is scheduled for September this year.

After leaving her debut label, Wendy signed with start-up agency ASND and announced her as their newest artist on 25th April 2025. This marks the 31-year-old’s new beginning as a soloist as sources tell that an album and a solo concert are underway, but no official announcements have been made yet.
Nevertheless, netizens are quite excited about the news, with fans expressing their confidence in ASND to manage her comeback. Twitter user @/KV19681 comments, “Seeing how ASND has handled Fromis_9, I have a lot more confidence that Wendy will have a good comeback”. Other than the buzz of excitement on the announcement, fans have also pointed out whether Wendy can sing her songs formerly produced in SM Entertainment.

Meanwhile, Wendy is on track with solo promotions after recently holding her special fan meet in Chongqing, China, and upcoming one in Huangzhou in August.
