We’ve seen many Japanese singers bring their concert tours to Malaysia, but what about a stage play from a game franchise? Popular Japanese game franchise “Touken Ranbu (刀剣乱舞)” has announced it’s bringing its iconic stageplay to Zepp Kuala Lumpur this May!
iMe Malaysia recently announced details for the Kuala Lumpur performance of the “Touken Ranbu: The Musical – Gou On Stage” musical. The stage play will take place at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on 9th and 10th May 2025 (Friday and Saturday). Ticketing details have also been released, with tickets priced at RM350 for CAT1 and RM300 for CAT2 and CAT3. Tickets will go on sale via BookMyShow Malaysia from 12th April 2025 (Saturday) onwards.

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, “Touken Ranbu” originated as a turn-based gacha game where players collect “Touken Danshi”, the spirits of ancient Japanese swords that take on human forms to fight monsters. The game is regarded as a pioneer in the female-focused gacha game genre and has amassed a huge following since its release in 2016. The franchise was later expanded to anime and live-action adaptations.
“Touken Ranbu” is also notable for its stage plays and musical productions, which were also performed internationally in China and France. When the initial announcement of the KL performance dropped in January, it received a lot of love and support from Malaysians, showcasing the game’s popularity amongst locals.
