If you’re still one of the Poké trainers who are still playing Pokémon GO (like us), we’ve got news for you. If you’re not, it’s time to re-install the game!
Niantic has announced that they’ll be adding more than 80 2nd generation Pokémon to the game – meaning that you’ll be able to catch Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and other Johto region Pokémon soon! This comes after several Gen 2 baby Pokémon was added to the game in December 2016.
Although the addition of new Pokémon is welcomed by players, Niantic has not stated which Pokémon will be made available, so it looks like we’ll have to wait ’til the update rolls out later this week.
However, it won’t be the only feature introduced. After the new update, Pokémon in the wild will also react differently when players are trying to catch them. This would be a refreshing feature, but the next function takes the cake!
We’ve always felt that it was slightly troublesome for us to access the items bag for a Razz Berry or Great/Ultra Ball when catching a Pokémon, and it seems like Niantic has heard our pleas.
A new item carousel will allow players to select Berries and Poké Balls directly from the encounter screen, so we’ll now be able to save time while on the quest to catch ’em all!
Other updates include gender-specific Pokémon and new Evolution items. The latter will be needed to evolve some of your Pokémon, and we speculate that evolutionary stones will be available at PokéStops after the update.
Aside from Evolution items, 2 new berries will be added – Nanab Berries and Pinap Berries. The former will slow down the movements of a Pokémon, making it easier to catch, while the latter will double the amount of Candies you’ll receive if your next catch attempt succeeds. It is still unsure if players will be able to use 2 or more berries at the same time.
For those who are fashion-centric, you’ll be glad to know that several new avatars will be included in the update, along with an expanded wardrobe. Players will now be able to customise their look with a whole new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items.
