It’s official – she said YES! American pop star Taylor Swift just broke the internet after announcing her engagement to boyfriend, football player Travis Kelce!
Earlier today (Wednesday, 27th August 2025 MYT), the “Love Story” singer shared a post on her Instagram account with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married”, revealing that she and Travis had gotten engaged. Taylor also shared several images from what looks to be the proposal. In one of the photos, the athlete was seen on one knee to pop the question to his now-fiancée.
The post also gave fans a glimpse at the rather impressive engagement ring. While there aren’t many details about the ring yet, experts have speculated that the ring is an old mine diamond set in 18k yellow gold. As for the value, jewellers estimate that the ring costs anywhere from US$500,000 to US$5 million (approximately RM2.1 million to RM21 million). Nevertheless, many experts praise the ring choice, saying it’s perfect for Taylor.
After the announcement, Travis’ father, Ed Kelce, went on a local news broadcast to reveal more details about the engagement. According to Ed, the engagement happened about two weeks ago. He also said that he and Taylor’s father, Scott, have been pushing for the athlete to propose for some time. At the same time, Ed confirmed that the pair hasn’t decided on when they’ll hold their wedding.
Meanwhile, the Swifties (Taylor’s fans) have reacted to the news, mostly ecstatic over the couple’s engagement. Taylor and Travis have been together since 2023. Earlier this month, the pair shared more about their relationship on Travis’ podcast, “New Heights”. They even got candid about how they felt for each other. Fans gushed over Taylor and Travis’ love story, saying the two seemed like a perfect match for each other.
