OPPO Malaysia and Tourism Malaysia have officially unveiled Rediscovering Malaysia Through the Lens, a photography initiative aimed at rediscovering untapped destinations in Malaysia that are worth exploring for both tourists and locals alike. Whether it’s a destination or an intangible cultural heritage, these beautiful hidden gems will be showcased through the lens of OPPO Studio.

The campaign is a local adaptation of OPPO’s continued commitment to visual storytelling and cultural documentation in Culture in a Shot, and it marks another significant effort in the brand’s local efforts in leveraging technology to amplify Malaysia’s position as a premier travel destination. The campaign was officially formalised as part of under the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, with the presence of senior representatives, Monica Chin, Chief Marketing Officer of OPPO Malaysia, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim, and Deputy Director of the Corporate Communications Division at Tourism Malaysia, Pn Norshariza Mohd Saad.

“Every picture tells a story, and Malaysia – a country that has long stood at the crossroads of culture – has no shortage of places worth seeing. At OPPO, we believe in the power of imaging to preserve culture and bring destinations to life. With the help of Tourism Malaysia, we are proud to be able to photograph the stories, places, and the natural beauty of this country, and hope to inspire the world to experience Malaysia for themselves,” said Monica Chin, Chief Marketing Officer, OPPO Malaysia.

The campaign launches with a dedicated Photowalk Trip to Kelantan, organised with Tourism Malaysia, where photographers and creators will go on a journey to document some of the state's most striking natural scenery — including Jelawang Waterfall, the tallest waterfall in Southeast Asia. The expedition marks the first chapter of a year-long series of photography journeys across Malaysia, with the OPPO Find X9 Ultra serving as the primary imaging tool throughout.

Purpose-built for photography at the highest level, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra features a Hasselblad-tuned triple periscope camera system, a large-format primary sensor, and advanced computational photography capabilities. These features are among many that help deliver exceptional clarity across a wide range of shooting conditions — from sweeping natural landscapes to intricate detail work.

Imagery from the Kelantan photowalk and subsequent campaign journeys will be amplified across OPPO Malaysia’s official channels, with select works featured on OPPO’s global lock screen platform — extending Malaysia’s reach to an international audience of millions.

Rediscovering Malaysia Through the Lens is a year-long photography campaign by OPPO Malaysia that brings Malaysia’s most remarkable landscapes and cultural destinations to global audiences, as wallpapers and lock screens captured exclusively using OPPO smartphones.

Conducted with Tourism Malaysia, the partnership builds on OPPO Malaysia’s growing track record as a platform for cultural storytelling in Malaysia — from the #OPPOMalaysiaThroughTheLens Coffee Table Book, which documented five fading traditional Malaysian art forms, to Culture in a Shot, the brand’s globally recognised initiative with Discovery, spanning cultural heritage across more than 15 countries.

Rediscovering Malaysia Through the Lens deepens the brand’s appreciation for cultural heritage, framing Malaysia not just for preservation, but for the world.
