Dedicated fans are nothing new, but according to Olivia Rodrigo, some concertgoers may be taking things a little too far.
In a recent interview with KISS FM UK, as reported by People Magazine, the singer shared some of the unusual things she has witnessed at concerts and festivals. One remark that stood out revealed that some fans reportedly wear diapers to avoid leaving their front-row spots during performances.

“I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show,” Rodrigo shared. She then admitted that the practice is noticeable from the stage, claiming that it is something she has “smelled” while performing.
“And that’s been an experience as a performer that I have smelled.”
The Topic Isn’t Entirely New To Rodrigo
HOLA! reported that during her BST Hyde Park headline set in London last year, the singer noticed a fan-made sign referencing the use of diapers to secure a front-row spot, prompting a visibly surprised reaction as she interacted with the crowd.
@doublevisioninaroseblush i always say that while olivia is one of the best performers i’ve ever seen, this pit was by far the WORST, for many reasons other than this one 😷 #oliviarodrigo #livies
The practice of wearing diapers at concerts has occasionally surfaced online over the years, particularly at large-scale festivals and lengthy stadium shows where fans queue for hours — or even an entire day — to remain as close to the stage as possible. It also gained widespread attention during major concert tours in recent years, sparking debates about concert etiquette and fan culture.
Unsurprisingly, Rodrigo’s comments quickly made waves across social media, with many fans expressing shock that performers can actually notice—and smell—the effects of such extreme dedication from the stage. Others questioned whether securing a front-row spot is really worth sacrificing a bathroom break.
While fans are often praised for their enthusiasm and commitment, Rodrigo’s candid remarks have reignited discussions about how far is too far when it comes to supporting your favourite artist.
After all, being front row may be memorable — but perhaps not for the reasons anyone intended.
