For the past month, news has been reporting that the popular CW Network series “Gossip Girl” is finally coming to an end. The show’s upcoming sixth season will be its last.
Nevermind trying to guess who’s going to end up with who in its dramatic final curtain call, or if the story will be left hanging – fans of the Upper East Side characters will finally have to say goodbye. After all, the Gossip Girl kids aren’t exactly kids anymore, having graduated from high school, pursuing their so-called careers, and all that jazz.
Prior to CW Network’s official announcement to Gossip Girl closing shop after its upcoming sixth season, Chace Crawford aka the handsome Nate Archibald expressed that he has already started making plans to move to Lose Angeles. Well, someone’s clearly excited about moving on!
Chace also cheekily said, “If it was up to me, Gossip Girl will end with a bang. Like the end of Die Hard. Just walking away from an exploding helicopter.”
Uh, sure, Chase. Pass us the C4 and we’ll see to it that it happens.
Anticipating the sad day when the series wraps its final episode, “Queen Bee” Leighton Meester aka Blair Waldorf said, “It’s bittersweet. That’s the perfect word for it. The cast and crew have become like family but at the same time, it’s great to move on and do something different. Playing the character for six years is great, but it’s exciting to do other things and also just sleeping and spending time with my family.”
When asked about her future plans, Leighton revealed that she will continue pursuing her music career with plans to release some new tunes in the next two months via free digital downloads. Hmm. We sense an album coming our way soon!
Now, the question is, will there be or not be a Gossip Girl movie in the works?
One can only hope.
