Another car recall campaign has been issued.

This time, it involves Nissan Malaysia and a total of around 134,000 Nissan vehicles. The cars are being recalled for the problematic Takata airbags inflator and the Back Door Stay.

The car models involved are Navara D40, Latio C11, Grand Livina L10, X-Gear L10, X-Trail T30, Teana J31, Liberty M12, Serena S-Hybrid C26 (CBU), Serena S-Hybrid C26, and X-Trail T32.

The Takata airbags inflator have also affected Honda vehicles, while the Back Door Stay field action problem is currently unique to Nissan cars. “The paint coating applied to the back door stay does not comply with design requirements for anti-rust treatment. As a result, the cylinder tube of the door stay may gradually corrode causing the gas in the cylinder to leak out. Over an extended period of time, the back door stay may weaken thus disabling the hold-up function of the back door,” explained Nissan in a statement regarding the vehicles recall.

Refer to the chart below to check whether your vehicle is affected:

The car maker will also notify all affected car owners and a letter will be issued to them through Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis (TCEAS). Those who received the letter are advised to call the nearest service centre for an appointment at 1800-883838. If your vehicle is affected, ‘fret not, as Nissan Malaysia will bear all the costs for the labour and replacement parts.

If you haven’t received a letter but is worried that your vehicle is involved in the recall, kindly visit http://servicecampaign.nissan.com.my/ and key in your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to find out.
