A picture may speak a thousand words, but how much of it is true? After all, it’s stunningly easy to cause misunderstandings with photos. Taken at just the right angle at just the right time, one can easily spin a story from nothing at all. Unfortunately, one such photo recently caused singer Nick Chung (钟盛忠) some grief!
The Malaysian artist had just celebrated his birthday, however his happy occasion left many seriously confused. The reason for said confusion? Nick had released a photo of another guy kissing him on the cheek. Needless to say, assumptions were drawn, which left Nick quickly posting an explanation.
On 20th February, Nick celebrated his 43rd birthday with family and friends. He later uploaded the photos to his socials, thanking them for celebrating the special day with him. While the photos were certainly sweet, one photo in particular caught netizens’ eyes.
It showed another man, covered in tattoos, about to press a kiss to Nick’s cheek. Notably enough, he was also wearing a coloured shirt which was similar to Nick’s. Fans immediately assumed Nick was implying something with the photo. While several started questioning if Nick was coming out of the closet, one openly asked: “Is he your boyfriend?”
Nick was equally quick to post an explanation. “Celebrated my birthday on the same day as my nephew, Tony, who coincidently wore the same coloured clothes (as me),” he wrote. When some netizens persisted in questioning their relationship, Nick put his foot down. “He is my nephew Tony who is 20 years younger than me! He is also Benny (Nick’s other nephew)’s younger brother!” Nick stated, adding Tony had merely been playing around.
Benny has previously starred in some of Nick’s music videos. However, it seems this is the first time many have seen his younger brother’s face. One thing is for sure, Tony is certainly mischievous! Well, on our end, we’ll wish both Nick and Tony a happy belated birthday. Hopefully their next celebration won’t be so eventful!
