Older stars often receive some unsavoury comments for their ageing looks – and it seems that netizens are now targeting Hong Kong actor Ekin Cheng (鄭伊健) after noticing his recent appearance.
A netizen posted about their unexpected encounter with the 56-year-old actor while in a cafe at Repulse Bay in Hong Kong. They also shared a few images of Ekin, who wore a simple black tee while at lunch with friends. However, the star also appeared in a somewhat shabby state as a five o’clock shadow was visible on his face.
Netizens reacted to the actor’s not-so-glamorous appearance, saying he looks older. Some also think the actor looked like a regular uncle without his usual on-stage makeup. However, many netizens also refuted the criticism, saying Ekin still looks handsome for his age. They also praised the star for ageing naturally instead of undergoing cosmetic procedures to preserve his looks.
Previously, Ekin had received similar comments about his appearance after a fan shared photos of the actor grocery shopping in Japan. While some said he still exudes star quality even in casual clothing, others argue that the star blended in with the regular folks because of his comfortable appearance.
It does seem that Ekin is comfortable with his appearance – and it’s good that his fans are also okay with him ageing.
