It has been said and proven time and time again that celebrities and public figures are often easy targets for online criticism. Nothing they say or do will ever please everyone, which is why many choose to ignore the chatter in order to protect their peace—though occasionally, someone can strike a nerve.
TV host Nadia Annuar is no stranger to online criticism, but she reminded fans that just because one has the freedom to speak, it does not mean they should. Here’s how the star responded to a man who, for some reason, has an issue with her being a divorcee:

Nadia Annuar has been posting videos on her Instagram about relationships, engaging her followers on topics such as marriage, communication, and other related issues. In one post, a man commented, “What’s there to be proud of being a divorcee?” While it is unclear which video the now-deleted comment came from, the remark clearly reflected disapproval of women ending their marriages, and Nadia herself is twice-divorced.
The public figure responded to the comment, saying, “Is it so shameful to be a divorcee? Do you think I asked to be one? Is me being a proud divorcee causing you a lot of trouble? What would you rather have me feel? Should I just sit and be miserable for the rest of my life? Who’s going to work and pay my bills? It’s not like I’m having an affair with anybody.” The 41-year-old screenshot the comment and posted it on Threads, adding that she’s growing tired of seeing this type of mindset from some people.

Since the post was shared, many of Nadia’s followers have come to her defence, agreeing that there is nothing shameful about being a divorcee. Some criticised the man for shaming women who end their marriages, noting that divorce is often a last resort when attempting to resolve marital issues. It is unfortunate that women are so frequently judged for this, and concerning that some would rather see them suffer and endure trauma than live their lives happily.
