Yet another street art spot that we Malaysians can be proud of is born.

Oreo today officially completed the #MYWonderfilled 3D artwork in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Situated between the intersection of Jalan Tun H.S Lee and Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, the initiative aims to transform an abandoned wall into an inspiring piece of art that honours Malaysia’s diversity and forgotten tales which are a unique representation of the nation and the people.

#MYWonderfilled was inspired by the idea of preserving the city’s heritage values and revitalising Kuala Lumpur’s charm, in line with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) efforts and initiatives to reconceptualise existing historical places.

Oreo started this initiative by hosting a nationwide poll on social media to ask Malaysians what iconic elements that represent the nation they would like to see coming together.

Ever wonder if…an ordinary side walk come alive with characters from Malaysian’s story books?

The poll garnered nomination of characters and icons demonstrating the elements of bridging the past and present, while others were about uniting two tales, cultures or personalities.

The 3D artwork includes interactive elements that unify the people and culture. Malaysia’s classic folklore of “Sang Kancil and Buaya” was among the popular choices from the poll results as it shows how an unlikely friendship, when differences are set aside, a wonderful connection could possibly take place.

The other characters mirror people’s lives and appreciation towards the childhood wonder tales of “Sang Kancil and Buaya”. Whether it is the school children, the durian seller, or the nasi lemak seller, all of them have spent their life inside and around, wrapped between and stretched through these wonderful stories which stands as a tribute to Malaysia’s diversity.

Combining a vibrant storyline, colourful collage and pronounced visual, the once dreary and grey wall is now transformed into an attractive location. The 3D artwork is a collaboration between the employees of Mondelez Malaysia and street art experts, Haze Long and her team from Art Misfits. Approximately 50 employees with the assistance from Art Misfits, rolled up their sleeves to complete the painting.
