MPH Group Sdn Bhd is finally shedding some light on the reason behind the closure of some of MPH bookstore branches’ operations, as previously reported.
In a statement provided to SAYS, the company is “pursuing a new venture” and currently transitioning to an “e-commerce cum digitalised ecosystem”, at the same time remaining some of its key physical stores to continue operating.
CEO Donald Kee explained, “We want to be able to connect with our customers through multiple touch points, be it online or offline by adopting an omni-channel approach.” It is also understood that they came to such decision due to the sudden increase in sales on the MPHOnline.com site throughout the movement control order (MCO) period.
Kee also announced that the company is planning to develop high-tech vending machines as one of their latest attractions for the customers’ convenience. The machines, which will be located in several strategic areas such as train stations, universities and hospitals, will allow customers to pick up the book that they have ordered online.
MPH Groups concluded by expressing their hope that the MPH brand will stay relevant to Malaysians through the introduction of these digital transformation initiatives.
