In a V Live session alongside SPICA’s Bohyung, former 2NE1 member Minzy Kong (민지) talked about her school life and updated fans on her upcoming solo album. The 22-year-old singer also revealed that her new album will consist of many different types of music.

“I’ve been preparing for my album, so I’ve been working on composing and writing lyrics very ambitiously. I’m trying to be inspired even on rest days. I really want to put together the album as a nice gift to fans. There are many genres that will be included. I have a lot that I want to do, so fans may have to wait a while longer, but I’ll do my best to present it to you guys as soon as possible,” she said.
Bohyung also added, “Minzy doesn’t usually try diverse genres, so now that she’s going solo, she’s almost dazzling.”

Minzy debuted through YG Entertainment’s 2NE1 in 2009 with “Fire” and the group quickly became one of the most popular female idol groups in K-Pop. On 5th April, she left the group and YG Entertainment to pursue a solo career.
She then signed an exclusive contract with The Music Works, an in-house subsidiary label of CJ E&M, in May. The entertainment company also houses Baek Ji Young, Yoo Sung Eun, Song Yoo Bin, and Produce 101’s Kim So Hee.
