MIDO Brings Back Its ’70s Icon In The Multifort TV Chronograph

The 1970s may be long gone, but MIDO is giving one of its most iconic designs a new chapter. The Multifort TV Chronograph revives the brand’s distinctive TV-shaped silhouette with a bold new attitude.

This modern reissue combines vintage aesthetics with high-performance watchmaking, making it a standout piece for collectors and style enthusiasts alike.

A Classic Shape with a Modern Twist

Originally introduced in the 1970s, MIDO’s TV case became a cult favourite for its bold, geometric design. The latest Multifort TV carries that same retro charm but transforms it into something entirely new with the addition of a chronograph function. The 42-millimetre stainless steel case features both satin-brushed and polished finishes, giving it a subtle balance of toughness and sophistication.

The dial is where this timepiece truly shines. Its gradient finish moves from vibrant blue to a deep midnight tone, creating an effect that feels alive as it catches the light. The horizontal brushed texture adds depth, while the white Super-LumiNova® on the indexes and hands ensures easy readability even in the dark. This is a watch designed to perform just as beautifully as it looks.

Built for Performance & Precision

Under the surface, the Multifort TV Chronograph runs on the MIDO Caliber 60 automatic movement, a reliable Swiss-made engine offering a 60-hour power reserve. It features a Nivachron™ balance spring, a high-tech material known for its resistance to shocks, temperature changes and magnetic fields. These details ensure accuracy and durability in everyday conditions.

On the dial, three counters track seconds, minutes and hours, complemented by a tachymeter scale along the flange. A discreet date window at 4:30 completes the design without interrupting its symmetry. The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the beautifully decorated movement, with blued screws and an openworked rotor engraved with the MIDO logo—a reminder that true craftsmanship is as much about what’s inside as what’s seen.

Style That Adapts to You

MIDO offers two interchangeable straps with the watch. The stainless steel bracelet gives it an urban and refined appeal, while the blue synthetic fabric strap with white stitching offers a sportier, casual look. The quick-change system allows easy switching, making it adaptable for different occasions.

A Legacy That Keeps Moving Forward

The Multifort TV Chronograph captures the best of both worlds—the charm of a vintage design and the precision of modern technology. It represents MIDO’s commitment to making watches that are as enduring as they are stylish. For those who appreciate timeless design with a hint of attitude, this is a watch built to keep up with every moment.

The Multifort TV Chronograph is now available at MIDO boutiques and authorised retailers in Malaysia.
