There is always that one unexpected surprise that makes all Malaysians go “Aiyo.” You may have guessed where this is going. Prices are rising, one evidence being during the Ramadhan bazaar when food vendors were forced to sell their ‘nasi tomato’ for RM10.

Now for the bad news, everyone. According to a post by Xiao Hong Shu, parking ticket fees at the popular shopping centres, Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall, will be increasing starting from 1st October onwards.

The car parks at Mid Valley Megamall’s Zones A, C, G, and H, as well as The Gardens Mall’s Zones B and U, will be charged RM2 for the first three hours on weekdays and RM3 on weekends and public holidays, according to the post. The zones mentioned will be charged RM2.50 for the next hour on weekdays and RM1 on weekends and public holidays.

For the premier zone parking rates, the first hour will be charged RM4 and each hour after that will be charged RM2.50 everyday. Referring to Mid Valley’s official website, the increase in the parking rate is primarily due to the subsequent hours, which have been raised from RM1 to RM2.50 for both general and premium zones.

Mid Valley Megamall has confirmed the price increase, according to Oriental Daily, and any other updates will be announced later. As the pricing adjustments mainly affect working hours, the total parking fee if parked for 8 hours is assumed to be RM15.50, which could reach up to RM360 per month.

From the post, there will be no maximum limit charged and if the card is lost, you will be fined RM50.
