Plenty of bank services are available in Malaysia – but no doubt, we want only the best to ensure we get top-quality services and the best security. But amongst all the banks in the country, which is the most secure?

In a tweet by Malissa, she shared that she has been a customer of six different banks – Maybank, CIMB, RHB, Muamalat Bank, UOB and Hong Leong Bank. However, she believes that out of the six banks, the most secure are Hong Leong Bank and UOB. She added that Maybank’s security is the most questionable to date.

In a separate tweet, Malissa shared an incident that happened a few days ago to prove her statement. She said when she wanted to transfer RM3,000 to her BigPay account, she immediately received a call from a CIMB Bank agent to verify the transaction. She noted that Maybank had once deducted money from her account without sending a prompt alert to notify her.

Malissa’s tweets sparked a discussion amongst netizens, sharing their opinion about the most secure banks in the country. Many agreed that Hong Leong Bank and UOB deserve the recognition, even sharing anecdotes to prove their point. One netizen said she even received a call from a UOB Bank agent while buying something in a foreign country. However, some joked that the security may be too strict, like one netizen who said she received a call from a Hong Leong Bank agent solely because she hadn’t logged into her account for five days.

Many also share Malissa’s opinion about Maybank being the least secure. Some Maybank customers shared their bad experiences, like one who had more than RM600 deducted from their account without a prompt notice and another who lamented their customer service. Some netizens had the opposite experience with Maybank, saying it is one of the best banks they’ve used, praising its convenient features.
