The Exchange TRX has been doing pretty well since its opening back in November, apart from the sudden blackout just the day after the launch, of course. Nevertheless, it has now become one of the hotspots in Kuala Lumpur with plenty of special appearances from international celebrities.

Speaking of launches, another popular brand will make its debut at The Exchange TRX and it will also be its first-ever outlet in Malaysia. Can you guess what it is? After announcing it late last year, the first-ever Shake Shack restaurant will be opening very soon!

To recap, back in October 2023, Shake Shack, a popular fast-food restaurant started in the US, announced on social media that they would be opening their first outlet in Malaysia at The Exchange TRX. Since the announcement, the company has been posting updates and sharing more details about their brand through the Malaysian branch’s Instagram page.

Earlier today (Tuesday, 2nd April), Shake Shack Malaysia revealed that the first-ever outlet will be opening on 10th April (the first day of Raya) at 7pm. The restaurant will be located on the 3rd floor (Park Level) of The Exchange TRX. In celebration of the launch, the first customer in line will receive a full set of exclusive merchandise! So be sure to arrive at the location as early as you can but if you didn’t manage to be the first customer, don’t worry as the brand said they have a Malaysia-exclusive tote bag for Shack fans.

Most were excited by the announcements but a few expressed disappointment that Shake Shack’s grand opening would be on the first day of Raya as many would be at their hometowns by then. Regardless, there will be plenty of opportunities to visit the burger chain and try out everything they have to offer.

Signature Menu & Malaysian Exclusive

The menu at TRX features all the crowd-pleasing made-to-order favorites including the signature ShackBurger made from fresh Angus beef that is free from antibiotics; Flat-Top Sausage, which uses imported beef, antibiotic-free Chicken Shack and Hot Chicken sandwiches, as well as the meat-free ‘Shroom Burger, crispy Crinkle-Cut Fries and a delightful assortment of Shakes and Frozen Custard.

Guests can also look forward to the signature Bunga Raya city shake, inspired by the national flower of Malaysia, the Hibiscus, features hibiscus jelly topped with vanilla frozen custard blended with dragon fruit and gula melaka, topped with whipped cream, coconut crumble and melaka drizzle.

Drawing inspiration from TRX’s sustainable ethos and commitment to organic integration, Shake Shack TRX embodies the essence of ‘organic connections’. Transforming the environment into an organic oasis, the design prominently features Malaysian Meranti wood, infusing the interior with natural warmth and connectivity. Influenced by traditional Malaysian art forms such as carving, weaving, and silversmithing, the TRX Shack pays homage to the region’s rich cultural heritage. From intricate handwoven baskets to the exquisite silverwork of Malay courts, these artistic elements inspire a neutral color palette and botanical accents.

Central to the design is a dynamic ceiling feature reminiscent of traditional Malaysian weaving techniques, symbolizing the interconnectedness of all elements within the space. Through this abstract interpretation, Shake Shack TRX fosters organic connections, inviting guests to immerse themselves in a sensory experience that honors both tradition and innovation.
