Some food are expensive because of their quality, ingredients used and how they are prepared. However, there are some dishes, snacks or even desserts that are ridiculously overpriced for what they’re actually worth.

Speaking of expensive food, netizens have been discussing online on which food are ridiculously priced. For those who are keen to know, some of these answers may surprise you.

Yesterday (Monday, 25th September), the Lokal Rakyat Twitter page posted a question asking netizens for their opinions on which food has the most unreasonable pricing. Most responded with Ayam Gunting with some giving more specific locations or brand details of this expensive snack. This answer isn’t too surprising as customers have previously complained about how the price of Ayam Gunting has drastically increased to up to RM10.

Another popular answer is Kinder chocolate, more specifically, the Kinder Joy Chocolate eggs. For your information, some shops have priced the 20-gram chocolate eggs depending on the “gender”. One popular online store priced the “Boy” eggs at RM3.66 and the “Girl” eggs at RM1.73. Sexist much.

Many netizens have also shared that Deep-fried Cempedak Fritters (Cempedak Goreng) are now quite expensive, explaining that 1 piece costs more than RM1 while 4 would cost RM5. There was also an incident earlier this month where a fight broke out that resulted in death because of the pricey street food.

Other answers included Durian, Wagyu beef, drinks from street vendors, Samyang ramen, and other affordable luxury chocolate brands like Ferrero Rocher. As for the actual reasons why some of these foods are ridiculously pricey, they could range from lack of resources, popularity or even because of the economy itself.

The "Durian Party" Returns To The Genting Dream For A Cruise You'll Never Forget!

One netizen previously shared how shocked he was that he had to pay RM81 for two plates of chicken rice dish in Pudu and many agreed that the total price was a bit too much. Whether or not the prices are justifiable, one can’t help but express just how absurd they can be.

Which food do you think the pricing doesn’t make sense?
