Store-made coffees can be such a privilege these days, as it can cost up to RM20 for a cup of caffeine. Given the high cost of the drink, it’s only natural to expect it to be prepared perfectly, rather than something we could easily make ourselves at home.

However, a Malaysian man wasn’t so lucky with his coffee journey. Just yesterday, a Facebook user named Ikmal Hakim shared his experience with a local café in Putrajaya called Kopi Surat Cinta. It’s said that he spent RM8 on a “latte”, but what he saw during the brewing process shocked him.

“I asked for a double shot latte, and the worker nodded. Then he brewed packaged coffee and put it in the microwave to heat it up. I paid RM8 for this. How disappointing,” said the user. Ultimately, he was disappointed with the results, as he had expected the drink to be made from freshly ground beans in-store. The man also mentioned that he even used a navigation app to find the store, highlighting how badly he wanted to try their drinks.

As seen in the screenshots below, the drink the frustrated customer received infuriated netizens, with some sharing their own experiences at the store. The owner of the coffee brand responded to the backlash by issuing a statement on Facebook. He clarified that their coffees are made from ground beans that are simply repackaged. He added that the details of how they make their drinks are displayed on the store’s counter.

The owner then apologised for the misunderstanding and promised to improve in the future. What do you think about this? Have you tried Kopi Surat Cinta before?
