What if Robin Hood had died and his mantle was taken up by his love, Maid Marian? And what if Margot Robbie was to play the lead role of Maid Marian?
The “Suicide Squad” star has been cast as the famous Robin Hood heroine, Marian. The story will be about the passing of Robin Hood and Marian picking up the pieces of his noble cause after his death.
Marian will continue to lead the Merry Men by stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. “Marian” will see the titular character becoming a legend of her own right in the process. The spin-off is, in someways, designed to serve as some sort of origin story to Maid Marian.
Having said that, Sony Pictures’ “Marian” shouldn’t be confused with Lionsgate’s upcoming reboot, “Robin Hood: Origins“, where Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx are starring as a young Robin Hood and Little John, respectively.
Right now, the 26-year-old actress is in the midst of filming the Tonya Harding biopic titled “I, Tonya” and will reprise her popular role as Harley Quinn again in “Gotham City Sirens“.
