Many local Stray Kids (스트레이키즈) fans were excited about the release of the group’s first concert film, which premieres next week. However, their excitement was short-lived after cinemas announced that the film would no longer be available in Malaysia.
On 29th January 2026 (Thursday), Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and TGV Cinemas announced the cancellation of all “THE dominATE EXPERIENCE” screenings in Malaysia. According to the announcement, the cancellation is due to “unforeseen circumstances”. However, it’s unknown whether it was a decision from Stray Kids’ label, JYP Entertainment, or the film’s producer, Live Nation Studios.

For those wondering, “THE dominATE EXPERIENCE” is Stray Kids’ first concert film, which features performances from their “Dominate World Tour” show at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The film was scheduled for release in Malaysia and other selected countries next Friday (6th February 2026). In celebration of the local screening, GSC, TGV Cinemas and STAYs (Stray Kids fans) have also prepared activities on the premiere date.
Given the initial excitement over the screening, it’s understandable that many STAYs are upset about the cancellation. Many took to social media to express their frustration, urging the film’s producer and distributor to reconsider the decision. Some fans also questioned the reason behind the cancellation, noting that the “unforeseen circumstances” reason is too vague. However, there are speculations that the cancellation is due to government censorship.

Fans who have purchased tickets for the concert, either through GSC or TGV Cinemas, can request a refund from the location where they bought the ticket. Additionally, fans can drop by the cinemas where they purchased their tickets to redeem exclusive collectables as a gesture of appreciation for the fans. STAYs can find more information on GSC and TGV Cinemas’ official social media pages.
It’s believed that the screening is only cancelled in Malaysia, making the news even more heartbreaking for local fans. What are your thoughts on this?
