The LEGO Group has officially announced a first-of-its-kind LEGO Ideas challenge that merges the Marvel and Star Wars universes.
Unveiled at New York Comic Con by filmmaker and comic book writer Kevin Smith, the unique competition invites fan builders from around the world to combine the two iconic, Disney-owned franchises, with the winning grand prize designs ultimately being developed into an official commercial LEGO set.

The creative partnership arrives alongside Smith’s upcoming Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles comic book series, which is slated to launch in January 2027 in anticipation of Star Wars‘ 50th anniversary.
Commenting on the initiative, Smith expressed his enthusiasm for the project’s creative scope, noting that the challenge offers builders an unprecedented opportunity to blend both sci-fi and superhero worlds into a single concept.
Participants can submit original custom builds across three primary categories: vehicles, characters, and scenes. This allows designers to explore imaginative concepts such as outfitting classic starships with advanced superhero technology or bringing characters from both franchises face-to-face.
Fede Begher, senior vice president and head of product group at the LEGO Group, highlighted the historic nature of the event, emphasizing that it unlocks entirely new avenues for storytelling and fan collaboration within the LEGO Ideas platform.
Submissions are currently open on the official LEGO Ideas website, with public fan voting scheduled to kick off on December 8, 2026, ahead of the official grand prize set selections in 2027.
