While divorce isn’t necessarily a bad thing, being accused of separating when it’s not true can have a negative impact. Recently, Hong Kong socialite Laurinda Ho (何超蓮) and Chinese actor Shawn Dou (窦骁) have been plagued with separation rumours, prompting them to speak up.
The rumours stemmed from a video by Hong Kong film producer Tiffany Chen (陈岚), in which she mentioned a celebrity couple who are currently facing marital problems. From the hints she put out, many netizens deduced that the couple mentioned was Laurinda and Shawn. While Tiffany never outright confirmed the rumours, she did like a comment that named the pair, which, for many, cemented the claims.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Laurinda and Shawn have sparked divorce rumours. The couple tied the knot in April 2023, after four years of dating, with a lavish Bali ceremony. However, in late 2024, Shawn sparked cheating allegations after paparazzi spotted him being intimate with another woman at a cafe. Combined with the reports that Laurinda and Shawn live separately for work commitments, divorce rumours began to spread.
However, the couple has since spoken up about the allegations, addressing them via social media. Shawn posted on Weibo, saying, “Hello everyone! First, I apologise for the online ruckus that has been taking up public attention over the past two days. We originally didn’t want to respond to these unfounded allegations, but the situation has become increasingly exaggerated. Please don’t believe or spread rumours. Thank you.”

Laurinda would later respond to Shawn’s post, adding, “We appreciate all the concern and understand your curiosity. However, we believe that the stability of a relationship doesn’t need to be proven through detailed, unvarnished displays of affection. Our relationship is stable. We also urge everyone to stop spreading false information.” With their posts, the couple vehemently deny the divorce allegations.
It’s good that Laurinda and Shawn have spoken up about the subject before it gets too out of hand. Let’s hope their statement will put a stop to the rumours.
