Apart from the poor maintenance issues that have been going on lately at LRT and MRT stations, such as the ceiling leak at KL Sentral, people have always complained about how the trains always suffered some sort of malfunction, especially halfway to the destination.

It goes without saying that these passengers were furious after the KTM train they boarded stopped working and left them stranded for a long period of time.

Earlier this week, a netizen who goes by Syab shared their recent KTM train ride experience in a Twitter thread. In the thread, the user revealed that the train suffered a power outage, leaving the passengers stranded at Batang Benar station for about an hour.

Tagging Transport Minister Anthony Loke, the passenger said, “This is a major inconvenience for passengers, especially those who are travelling from the morning. I understand that there may be unforeseen circumstances that can cause delays but I believe that KTM could be doing more to address these issues. I urge you to look into this matter and take steps to improve the reliability and comfort of the KTM train service.”

The stranded passenger also mentioned that they’ve noticed little to no improvements in the KTM’s electrical issues for the past 3 years, saying that the trains would often stop working at random moments. KTM Berhad confirmed the train’s malfunction on their Facebook page later that evening and informed that repair work was being done.

Despite their explanation, netizens were obviously furious over the situation saying that this has happened too many times. The company then apologised for the inconvenience and stated that the power outage was something that could not have been predicted.

At the time of writing, Anthony Loke has yet to address the complaints about the KTM service. Here’s to hoping that we’ll actually see improvements in the near future.
