At this point, no one would be surprised if our LRT or MRT trains were to experience some sort of technical issues but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating. Not only that, some of the stations’ facilities such as the lifts have also been malfunctioning as there were a few families that got trapped in them.
Maintenance issues have also been a problem and many were definitely worried about the condition of a train station’s ceiling after it was seen leaking. Watch:

Yesterday evening (Tuesday, 10th October), a passenger posted a video of what they saw at KL Sentral station. In the video shared above, the ceiling at the station appeared to be leaking profusely, possibly partially due to the stormy weather, causing the floor to be flooded with water. “Is KL Sentral trying to compete with [Singapore] Changi Airport?” the netizen tweeted.
As for which part of the station this video was taken, the passenger replied to RapidKL saying that it was at the tunnel that connects KL Sentral and MRT Muzium Negara. The video went viral with netizens expressing their concerns about the safety of the passengers and even questioning the station’s maintenance. Some even claimed that this was not the first time the station had experienced a leak in their ceiling.
As seen in the screenshots above, netizens have pointed out how almost every train station in Malaysia always experiences some sort of malfunction and maintenance issues. Apart from the aforementioned lift breakdown, escalators in certain stations such as Abdullah Hukum LRT station appeared to have not been functioning for a couple of months.
When asked about the escalator issues, RapidKL replied that they are unable to do much as certain facilities fall under KTM Berhad’s jurisdiction. Unfortunately, the latter has yet to address the issues with the escalators. Will we ever see the day when there will be no technical or maintenance issues at any train station? Perhaps that can only exist in our dreams.
