In Islam, it is known that one cannot marry another of a different faith. Their partner would have to convert to the religion in order for their marriage to be valid. Some celebs like Daniella Sya shared that they are open to converting for their partner while others like Angeline Tan have embraced their new faith after finding the love of their life.
It seems that another actor may be joining them on a similar journey. In a short interview with Harian Metro published yesterday (Monday, 17th June), Keith Foo (富全进) revealed that the difference in faith between him and his girlfriend actress Riena Diana has never been an issue.
Open to the possibility of converting to Islam, the actor asked the public to continue praying for him to make more effort to learn more about the religion. “I consider this phase to be a learning process for me to study [Islam] in more detail. Besides, when it comes to the matter of the religion, it’s not something completely foreign to my family so this would be the best time for us to learn about the other aspects of it,” he said.
The 41-year-old hopes that everything will turn out for the better in the future. True to his commitment to be closer to the religion and his lover, the actor was recently seen picking Riena up from her house and dropping her at a mosque so she could perform prayers during the morning of Eid al-Adha.
Meanwhile, the actress said that she had a discussion with Keith about their religious differences and was surprised that her boyfriend was open to learning more about her faith. “I think it’s absolutely lovely of him to want to study Islam on a deeper level not just because of me. I was surprised just by how open he is to learning. Personally, since I choose to be with him, I have to commit just as much to this relationship,” she elaborated.
Here’s a little fun fact: Both Keith and Riena are currently in the process of filming their latest drama “Salju Rindu” and it was during this time that the two fell in love. While we don’t know what the future holds for these lovebirds, we pray they will have a loving and lasting relationship.
